Oliver Blandcore best debut album that has ever been released. love, life, death. The stripped down emotional release has never been matched. 15 years later it still makes sense

David's debut masterpiece has been remastered and will finally be available on vinyl. Many thanks to David, and to Luke and Drew from Birdwar Records who released the original, for letting us be involved in this.

Note on the original album release:

“We began Birdwar Records in order to release this album. What seemed like a slightly reticent David agreed to work with us, and we enlisted the help of Ross and Simon from Ghost Town Studios to record it. We selected an old church hall near to where we lived in Leeds 6 for the recording rather than a studio setup. We’d first seen David perform in a similar space and so wanted to retain something of that with this session. The setup for recording was kept simple, our only real wish being to try and capture David’s current set at the time, an early far less performative version of what would become his brilliant and unpredictable live shows.

"The decision was made to record it live, no overdubs, minimal post-production. Sitting in on the recording was a beautiful thing to witness, a once in a lifetime moment. There were a few mistakes, moments of fragility and honesty, but these are what the real world is full of. We decided not to record a second take, it was done, a wonderfully imperfect document with just the right amount of insufficiency.

Luke Drozd & Drew Millward, Birdwar Records."
